Cyber Crime Unit

The Attorney General's Cyber Crime Unit was created in 2007 to
address the ever-growing problem of Internet crime. The goal
of the unit is to formulate a strategy utilizing education, consumer
protection, law enforcement, and prosecution to help stop the victimization of Kansas residents online.

Currently, the unit consists of one investigator working with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation's Cyber Crime Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce in Wichita and one assistant attorney general assigned to assist with prosecution.

As the Cyber Crime Unit's involvement increases, so will the need for additional personnel. In 2008, Attorney General Steve Six requested additional funding for the unit in order to better protect Kansans online.
